Biography

Clarissa is a U.S.-Mexico dual national with full legal training in both jurisdictions. She completed her legal studies (L.L.B.) at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and holds a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law. Her practice focuses on international arbitration and litigation.

Clarissa has managed commercial arbitration cases at the ICC Court in New York, overseeing proceedings from the filing of the request through to the scrutiny of the award. In this role, she coordinated with counsel and arbitrators across jurisdictions and briefed the ICC Court on procedural decisions. She also has experience in investor-State arbitration, having contributed to the preparation of an ICSID case involving environmental and regulatory claims.

In the litigation space, Clarissa has appeared before U.S. courts in matters involving insurance and construction, actively participating in procedural conferences, discovery, and depositions. She also worked at the Texas Attorney General’s Office, assisting with deposition preparation and supporting litigation in the environmental protection division.

Her broader legal experience includes serving at the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the United Nations, where she contributed to Mexico’s delegation at the UN Security Council and Sixth Committee. In Mexico, she also supported public interest initiatives focused on human rights and anti-trafficking.

Clarissa is active in the international legal community. She serves as Co-Chair of the Minorities in International Law Group of the American Society of International Law and is a member of its New York Chapter. She was selected as a mentee in the 12th cycle of the Young ICCA Mentoring Programme—chosen from a pool of over 700 applicants. She also represents the New York Chapter of the National 50+1 Collective, a non-partisan organization that promotes women’s political participation and leadership.
